Jim Platt, Event Director, reports that “Competitive runners like to know course records and times required to win those first place trophies. Course records for these challenging out and back runs through the redwoods following the Gualala River valley are the following: 5K Men – Jack Welter, 19:45 (2005), 5K Women, 22:45, Keri Nelson (2005); 10K Men - Brian Astell, 33:09, (2006), and 10K Women, 44:08, Emily Farris (2005).”
The Gualala River Run/Walk is truly a regional event. In 2006 over 200 runners and walkers participated from 47 cities in California, Washington and Texas. Californians came from Willits in the north to San Diego in the south. Australia was represented by the four members of a family vacationing at Point Arena Light Station. They were the event’s first international contingent. Complete race results for 2005, 2006 and 2007 can be found by clicking here.
